Music has always been important to me. It is a big part of my life and I had to share this small story with you regarding Metal in Iraq:

Jay Lustig of The Star-Ledger reports: Not long after the United States-led invasion of Iraq, the Baghdad heavy metal band ACRASSICAUDA received a death threat. "You are Americanized, playing Western music," it read. "You either quit or you will be dead."

Band members Faisal Talal Mustafa, Marwan Hussein, Firas Abdul Razaq and Tany Yaqoo didn't quit, but did start scheduling band practices randomly, rather than at regular times.

They didn't quit when mortar shells battered the area around the hotel where they were presenting a concert: they just turned the volume up. And they didn't quit when their practice space was turned into rubble by a Scud missile.

It's hard for a Westerner to comprehend the sacrifices they have made, and how much their music means to them.

"It's our life," says bassist Razaq, who now lives in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

You get a lot of cool stuff like this especially in Sam Dunn's documentary, Global Metal. If anyone does like that particular genre then don't rent that DVD, just go straight to buying it! Global Metal.

Sam Dunn also did Metal:A Headbangers Journey.

What the hell is the difference between an 'Anthro' and a 'Furry' anyways? Everything, and nothing, in short.

We discussed if there are such things as 'Furry' comics at all, if an anthro car could be part of the furry fandom, and even talk about effing ham! Yes, you read that right, effing ham was in fact a big part of FursonaPod Episode 21- Furries vs. Anthros: The Thin Grey Line.

So what is the difference between an Anthro and a Furry? Does a furry has to be drawn within their suit, or are the fursonas that we draw actually classified into anthro? Can a 'furry' actually have a fursona of an inanimate object?

This topic hurts my head >.<

Its been a long time coming, after many, and we do mean many unsuccessful comeback specials, we finally have one. Only released 2 weeks later than planned.
Intended for the first week of February, here it is on the 15th.

We warn you first and formost, this is our most "mature" episode to date. We touch on subjects that we never thought we would, and some of the debating gets pretty heated. And yes, it was intended that way.

What do we talk about? Well im glad you asked: everything from Further Confusion (which Mike and I were able to attend) and the Drama that happened to Me while we were there (oh noez!), of course we talk alot about video games and movies (as come expected) and most shocking of all: no post-editing. Its all raw and ready for you!

So sit back, relax and enjoy, because were back baby! And this time, with a plan! (finally)

http://furnation.ning.com/profiles/b...oonists-vision

EDIT: Ok fine, it doesn't show for those not signed onto the site. So I will paste it here

For years I've been taking advantage of my interest in art and philosophy to help build and give birth to an idea for a graphic novel, which I intend to use as a means to gather a fan base in hopes of getting people to help me in bringing to life my life's work through animating.

Given that I am using life as my tool for commentary, it became apparent to me that religion too has not escaped my thoughts. The many beliefs and strange ideas of what may happen once we perish have been fascinating to me because it reveals just how lonely we as a species truly are. I respect religion, but personally I am against it, but that's a little off topic. I would rather bring to light here what my activities have been recently.

I have been digging up info on many gods of many religions, one god in particular who I took interest in, me being one who loves anthropomorphic work and the fandom, has been Anubis. I spent nearly two months figuring out what type of person he would have to be to do the work he does. My concern in the beginning was why we have given Anubis the role he plays, if you are unfamiliar with that role, I will tell you shortly. But the "why"is no longer my concern. My concern has now turned to "what type of person would he really be?" What would it be that would drive him to continue the work that he does and how will that play an important role in my work? This was what my focus turned to, and the more I began to answer that question, the more I developed him, the more I fell in love with who he would become and he soon became one of the more dominant figures in my work. In a later blog I will reveal some text that will give a concrete idea of what he will be like.

Now for those of you who may not be entirely sure of what it is Anubis does (or who he is) then read this:

Patron of: mummification, and the dead on their path through the underworld (A patron is like a guide, or a protector)

A man with the head of a jackal-like animal. Unlike a real jackal, Anubis' head is black, representing his position as a god of the dead. He is rarely shown fully-human, but he is depicted so in the Temple of Abydos of Rameses II. There is a beautiful statue of him as a full jackal in the tomb of Tutankhamun.

Anubis is an incredibly ancient god, and was the original god of the dead before Osiris "took over" the position. After that point, Anubis was changed to be one of the many sons of Osiris and the psychopomp (conductor of souls) of the underworld. His totem of the jackal is probably due to the fact that jackals would hunt at the edges of the desert, near the necropolis and cemeteries throughout Egypt.

Prayers to Anubis are found carved on the most ancient tombs in Egypt, and his duties apparently are many. He watches over the mummification process to ensure that all is done properly. He conducts the souls through the underworld, testing their knowledge of the gods and their faith. He places their heart on the Scales of Justice during the Judging of the Heart, and he feeds the souls of wicked people to Ammit.

In some stories, Anubis is the son of Ra and Nephthys, or Set and Nephthys (probably due to Set and Anubis having the same totem animal). Some have Heset as his mother, and still others say Bast. This apparent confusion is still another sign of Anubis' origins in the most ancient of times. He also has a daughter, Kabechet, who helps him in the mummification.

Now if only I could get that computer...

Hello Fellow Furries!

Here’s a plain topic that’s actually more interesting when you sit and think about it. Why did you get into the fandom? Was it really the fursuits, the artwork, or the reams of gay porn? Or… OR, was it because you felt the need to express yourself in a different way than normalcy would allow, or the fact that the fandom… that fursonas, allow you to express yourself exactly the way that you would like to be seen, without someone nitpicking your details, as may be the case within other fandoms?

Boo-ya! We are back like a heart attack, baby! You'll definitely want to put us in your ears this time around. FursonaPod Episode 19 is all about why you new furries are here, and you old furries aren't (well, i guess that makes that second point redundant... *sigh* anyways...).

So why do you figure that this fandom has a revolving door? Does that make it a mini-miracle that FursonaPod is still going strong while other furry podcasts have shut down or gone silent? Does it boil down to the 'based on vapour' nature of the fandom?

Thoughts: We want 'em!

Being one who has never really been a big fanatic about movies and such, I've never really touched or cared about the DVD player that is shared at home amongst the family. But I've recently learned that certain DVD players allow you to view images that have been placed on blank CD's. Now I got a little curious but noticed that my DVD player, amongst two others I have tried at friends houses, only seem to read and view JPEG files. Why are animated pictures, like GIF files and the like not picked up by DVD players? Is it possible to view these files on much newer DVD players? Is there a way to place images on blank CD's that will allow DVD players to view these types of images?

Anyhow, to the topic at hand, what awesome ideas do you have to help incorporate the furry theme into your Christmas festivities? Dress up the dog? Put a fursuit on the Christmas Tree? Spike the eggnog?

We discuss this awesomeness in FursonaPod Episode 18: A Very Furry Christmas, so lend us your ears!

Its not uncommon in popular liturature to have some kind of anthopomorphic animal of one kind or another in fantasy novels. Not as main characters, most of the time, but often as supporting characters. So here's my question to you lovely anthro-loving fans: what stories have you read outside the fandom that have furry characters? And what role do they play? I can name a few:

The Wicked series: There are feral animals, but also Animals (set apart by the capital leter) who are your typical anthropomorphic animals. They, collectively serve as a discriminated group. I just can't get that scene from the philosophy club out of my head...

The Abhorsen series: It's been a long time since I read these books, but I belive that mulitiple characters have talking familiars?

The Golden Compass: Shapeshifting Deamons who take the form of animals. wee.

Relationship explosions, real explosions, we're not picky. Though this weeks show is something of an oddball. Last week we got emails, some this week too, but we didn't read them on last weeks show. Since our American Thanksgiving holiday is Thursday, we're going to be a bit busy.. We're getting together tonight (Wednesday) to record a show, so we'll have emails plus Fuzz and Isty's MFF con reports. :3
Canines are especially the worst, dogs aren't supposed to get that much chocolate in their bodies! How are they still living!?
Does anyone have any theories on this, like how furs manage to survive heart attacks, cardiac arrest, etc. from too much chocolate?

Yeah yeah more of a blog thing - but I'm doing that too so deal ...

Okay if this interests anyone please head over to www.NaNoWriMo.org and sign yourself up ... ok?

Ok :)

Soooooooooooo I just signed up for the 2009 NaNoWriMo contest. What is it? Well ... National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.

Yeah I am insane obviously.

But, since I'm doing this (or gonna give it a shot - I mean it is another good excuse to put off starting my podcast right?) I'm hunting for ideas :)

What I mean is does anyone out there have an idea they would like me to include in this story - I don't care what the idea is I'll include anything you people give me in some way or another ... OR do you just want your character to be included in said story ... leave a reply gimme your thoughts :) My aim in this is to actually make my own task harder than it previously was - I a using my own idea for the story construct itself and putting in anything anyone says :)

Current list :-

Whyred - Arctic Fox
Drystel - Mech made out of coffee beans
Alvcard - Bunny Boi lube

Earth Eternal - Impressions?

Okay, assuming that a number of you guys have at least logged onto Earth Eternal to see if it's worth the hype within the furry community, what are...

Okay, assuming that a number of you guys have at least logged onto Earth Eternal to see if it's worth the hype within the furry community, what are your thoughts on it. I'll tell y'all what I think, but I'm interested to know what your opinions are...

For me, the highlight of the game was making and customizing your character, after that, I became progressively unenthusiastic. Considering that I had logged off of WoW to play this game, I was able to easily draw some connections between the two game's designs. To be honest, Earth Eternal looks like a poorly made ripoff of Warcraft's interface, which is buggy to begin with. Everything about the game design and mechanics feels clunky, and the zones seem... well, unfinished. For a new game, this looks and feels third rate.

The zones feel lifeless, and I only heard music play once. However, the music I DID hear was actually rather nice, and I would have liked to have heard more of it.

The character models aren't terrible, but many of them seem awkward and the running and fighting animations are sloppy.

The quests in the game seem to model after wow quests (go get x amount of this and kill x amount of these), and it can get tiring fast.

So, my thoughts summed up? I found it underwhelming, and it will be a while before I decide to give this game another shot.

Understandably, this IS in early stages of release, so I'll give them some time to improve and fix. I realize no game is perfect, but these developers have to step it up, and fast. In the meantime, I'll log back onto WoW, which is a costly game, but a polished one.

On the other hand, it doesn't look as bad as runescape.

Your thoughts?
